What Clients Say

Results That Speak for Themselves

"Delta's product did exactly what they said it would, and the remediation got us back into compliance and under budget."

Curtis Trefry

Environmental Manager

"Compared to the traditional proposal, Delta's solution was approximately 25%. They were certainly instrumental in the timely response and also in the remediation success."

Cost Factors

What Affects Soil Remediation Cost?

Soil remediation costs vary based on several key factors. Understanding these helps you get accurate quotes and compare options effectively.

Volume of Soil

Our approach is scalable, allowing us to efficiently manage both small and large volumes, with larger projects benefiting from additional on-site treatment economies of scale.

Contaminant Type

Different contaminants require different treatment approaches. Petroleum hydrocarbons are highly treatable with bioremediation; some chemicals may need specialized handling.

Contamination Level

Higher contaminant concentrations may require longer treatment times or multiple applications. Hazardous-level contamination may require additional regulatory requirements.

Site Location

Remote sites have higher mobilization costs. However, on-site treatment eliminates long trucking distances that make dig-and-dump extremely expensive for remote locations.

Site Conditions

Soil type, groundwater presence, access limitations, and operational constraints all affect treatment approach and cost.

Timeline Requirements

Expedited timelines may require additional resources. Standard treatment timelines are comparable to dig-and-dump.

What to Expect

Budget-level estimates based on typical petroleum contamination projects.

Project Size On-Site Treatment Dig-and-Dump
Under 100 m³ $5K–$15K $15K–$25K
1,000 m³ $60K–$100K $120K–$400K
5,000 m³ $250K–$500K $600K–$1M
Over 10,000 m³ $500K–$750K >$1M

Real Savings, Real Project

Dominion Diamonds, NWT

  • Client: Major mining operator, remote northern site
  • Challenge: Contaminated soil requiring remediation at an extremely remote location — nearest landfill 1,000+ km away
  • Treatment: On-site BioLogix application, zero trucking required

Results

  • $194/m³ saved — T&D quote $464/m³, Delta cost $270/m³
  • $271,600 total savings on 1,400 m³
  • 6 days on-site — vs. weeks of truck scheduling
  • 70,000 kg CO₂ emissions avoided
  • 100% material reused on-site — zero waste to landfill

Addressing the Elephant

We Know What You're Thinking

On-site treatment sounds too good to be true. Here's why it's not.

"What if bio doesn't work and I end up paying for both?"

See our performance guarantee above — Delta guarantees you'll never pay more than the T&D quote. Your downside is literally zero.

"I've seen bioremediation fail before."

You're right to be skeptical. Past bioremediation vendors used off-the-shelf bacteria without understanding field application.

But consider this: 99.99% crude oil degradation in 19 days — that's a field result, not a lab result. Delta's BioLogix is university-developed, vertically integrated, and with 90%+ removal rates across hundreds of field deployments. The difference isn't the concept of bioremediation. It's how Delta does it.

"On-site treatment takes too long."

Regulatory deadlines are real. If you're worried about timeline, that's the right thing to worry about.

But consider this: Delta can typically convert sites from contaminated to remediated status with 4 warm months of residence time. A little proactive planning can make for some substantial savings while also reducing our footprint on the land.

From Our Founder

"Actually remediating your site doesn't have to cost more than landfill."

"Remediation is a contact sport — How you complete the treatment is equally as important to the technology of choice, be it chemical or biological."

"Soil that can be treated should be treated."

Where We Excel — And Where We Don't

Not for Emergency Response

We specialize in post-emergency residual contamination. Active spills need containment first — then we step in.

Not for Non-Hydrocarbon Contamination

BioLogix is optimized for TPH, BTEX, and PAHs. Heavy metals and non-organic contaminants require different treatment approaches.

19 Days is Exceptional, Not Universal

Our contaminated lagoon result is a documented best case. Most projects take 90-120 days — timelines are site-dependent.

Very Small Volumes May Not Save Money

If you have a small volume near a disposal facility, dig-and-dump may be comparable. We'll tell you honestly if that's the case.

Our goal is to first ensure your site is actually a good candidate for BioLogix. If it is we can improve your sustainability goals while maximizing your rem budget, and if your site isn't a good candidate we'll tell you.

The Delta Cost Guarantee

We guarantee our cost will never exceed what you'd pay for an all-in trucking and disposal option.

Your worst case is that you eliminated your long-term liability while increasing your firm's sustainability. Your best case is up to 75% savings.

This is why 80% of our clients become repeat customers.

We can't guarantee every site but we are dedicated to changing the narrative on soil disposal in Canada and we're willing to put our money where our mouth is. See if your site qualifies for our guaranteed approach.

Fine Print

While we cannot guarantee every remediation project (this is the reality of our industry) we can confidently stand behind our Cost Guarantee for large, well-characterized sites. We do not provide guarantees for in-situ remediation. A prior technical and commercial assessment is typically required before we can confirm the guarantee applies.

FAQ

Common Cost Questions

How much does soil remediation cost per cubic meter?
Dig-and-dump: $150–400+ per cubic meter (digging + trucking + $40–200/tonne tipping fees + backfill). On-site treatment: Typically $60–150 per cubic meter depending on contamination type and concentration. For a 500 m³ project, that's a potential savings of $45,000–$125,000. Contact us for a site-specific cost comparison.
What's included in a remediation quote?
Our quotes include mobilization, BioLogix product and application, equipment, labor, and all other costs associated with the project. We provide a complete turnkey solution with no hidden fees.
Is on-site treatment always cheaper?
In the vast majority of cases, yes. On-site treatment is especially cost-effective for larger volumes, remote sites, and petroleum contamination. For very small volumes close to a disposal facility, dig-and-dump may occasionally be competitive — but you still carry the transferred liability. We'll give you an honest comparison.
Do you offer payment terms?
We work with clients on payment structures that fit their needs. Typical arrangements include milestone-based payments tied to project phases. Contact us to discuss options for your specific situation.
What if the project costs more than quoted?
Typically unit rates are agreed upon as plumes are often larger than expected but we agree before proceeding, there are no surprise charges.
Does bioremediation work in cold weather or winter?
Yes. Delta's BioLogix formulations have proven efficacy across a temperature gradient from 5°C to 30°C. We've deployed successfully at mines in the Arctic and across Northern Alberta, BC, and Manitoba in low temp conditions. Our university research partnerships have specifically validated cold-climate performance.
How is Delta different from other bioremediation companies?
Three things set Delta apart: (1) We manufacture live bacteria on-site with our Re2Growth bioreactor instead of shipping dormant products, (2) we verify bacterial activity with fluorescence spectroscopy before deployment, and (3) we have 4 university research partnerships (U of A, UBC, Calgary, Olds College) that continuously improve our formulations based on hundreds of successful deployments. Most bio companies buy bacteria from a supplier and hope it works. We control the entire chain.

We are the only bioremediation technology developer with boots on. Our field crews create a constant feedback loop, allowing for continual improvement of the BioLogix remediation process.
